How this course works

This course is the legal test plus the module for the type of firearm you want to licence, presented by African Arms / Michael Firearms Training Academy. Pass it and you are issued with the proficiency certificate that SAPS requires before they will issue your competency certificate.

1. Choose the course you want to do — the legal test plus the module for your firearm type.
2. Register at the shop. The fee covers the course and your study material.
3. Study the material in your own time and complete the open-book test in it.
4. When you are ready, contact us to book your classroom date.
5. Attend the class, where the trainer works through the material with you, and write the closed-book test at the end.
6. Pass the closed-book test, and we book your range qualifying shoot.
7. Pass the range qualifying shoot, and we issue your proficiency certificate.
8. Take that certificate to SAPS with your competency application.

Class dates are limited, so book early — and if you are not sure which module your firearm needs, ask us and we will tell you exactly.
